Headaches Are A Pain In The Neck

Headaches are probably one of the most common reasons for visiting a medical doctor. Headaches tend to be more common in women than in men. Many people experience migraine headaches regularly. They represent millions of lost work hours and disability expense every year.

There are new medications that can benefit migraine sufferers called Imitrex, Emerge, and Zomig. However their cost is often quite prohibitive.

New research indicates that neck disorders are probably contributing to most people’s headaches.

This means that tight scarred muscles in the neck are causing nerve compression in the neck, which is referring pain into the head and face.

For this reason, I often recommend  applying heat to the back of the neck and cold facecloth or mask to the eyes and forehead. In this way,  you are treating both the real origin of the headache and the complication of the headache.

Of course, for many, neck stretching therapy can be a long-term solution.
