Back Pain ReliefMy Version Of Inversion TherapyInversion therapy is a form of therapy for back pain whereby you invert the patient upside-down so that they are usually hanging by their feet. This may be done with gravity boots whereby the person hangs from a bar in boots resembling ski boots. The problem with this form of inversion therapy is that there is an increased risk of spinal injury because of the lack of support. Another form of inversion therapy is whereby the person lay on a table that gradually tips the person upside-down, again supported mainly by their ankles. This technique can be very effective for elongating the spine and reversing spinal subluxations or malpositioning. It also reduces compression of the spine. However, people should be very careful with inversion therapy, as some people may become injured. People with glaucoma, very high blood pressure, osteoporosis and a history of spinal surgery should be careful. With caution in mind, many people can have reasonable back and even neck pain improvement with inversion therapy. Back pain is also potentially preventable and reversible with a proper stretching program such as The Lamb Program™. Watch for more on back pain on DrLamb.com.
